Celebrate! also introduces the choir’s new artistic director, Erin Craig, whose skill and musicianship will guide the choir forward into its next phase of development. The host for the evening is the multi-talented Edmonton Queer icon and newly appointed University of Alberta Department of Drama's Lee Playwright in Residence , Darrin Hagen.

Paula Robert’s love for rhythmic, high-energy choral music is reflected in the program choices and EVM will also be presenting two of Erin Craig’s original arrangements. Supporting musicians will be the choir's accompanist Daniel Belland, drummer Sandro Dominelli, and bass player Josh McHan.

A celebration of the season with Edmonton Vocal Minority and Chorealis. A queer-friendly evening of music, activities, and good company hosted by community leader, Kristy Harcourt. Both choirs will perform and the evening will end with the audience joining the choristers for a carol sing-along.

This year Carols for a Cause donations will go to the Pride Centre of Edmonton. Every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon the Pride Centre of Edmonton opens its doors to the community, offering a safe warm place for vulnerable people in the 2SLGBTQ community to gather, access supports and warm clothes, and socialize. Recently there have been increasing numbers of refugee claimants newly arrived in Canada. Donations will help keep the centre stocked up on tea, coffee and hot chocolate for the winter months.

Chorealis is the choir of the Unitarian Church of Edmonton and is conducted by Karen Mills and Gordon Ritchie. Paula Roberts conducts EVM accompanied by Daniel Belland.

Imagine
Saturday, 4.June 2022
7:30 PM
Southminster-Steinhauer United Church (10740 19 Avenue NW)

It has been thirty months, a full two and a half years since EVM has performed in front of live audience, and the choir is excited to reconnect and share its music at its June Pride concert, Imagine, hosted by Darrin Hagen.

After a full season of on-line rehearsing, the choir restarted live rehearsals in September 2021. The singers have adapted to shorter rehearsals, a limited number of singers, and singing while wearing face masks. Their perseverance and dedication have paid off and we invite you to share in EVM’s return to live performances on Saturday, June 4th.

So much has happened in the past two years, and the music for this concert will touch on some of the issues that our society has been facing. We also want to celebrate our resilience and the joy of people coming together supporting one another, offering hope and solace. Since 1993 EVM has been making music and entertaining its audience. Come celebrate with us, we’ve missed you!
